Future Vacations Closes Shop

On July 11, Certified Vacations Group stopped accepting bookings for its private-label, wholesale vacation brand, Future Vacations.

On July 11, Certified Vacations Group stopped accepting bookings for its private-label, wholesale vacation brand, Future Vacations.

The company said it will continue to honor all bookings made prior to July 11 and that customer service representatives are able to assist agents and clients with existing reservations. Certified Vacations also advised agents to check its Web site for future developments.

On the company’s Web site, Certified Vacations Group attributed Future Vacations’ close of business to the current economy.

“Due to the current global economic conditions of the travel industry, Certified Vacations Group is joining forces with our sister company 2Go Media to focus its energy on providing Web site sales and marketing tools to travel agents and the hospitality industry,” Certified posted on its Web site.

Last year, Future Vacations lost both its Delta Vacations and Continental Airlines Vacations accounts, both of which are now operated by Delta-owned MLT Vacations. Certified Vacations Group had operated Delta Vacations since 1980, and had operated Continental Airlines Vacations since 1997.

Another Certified private-label brand, Damron Vacations, will take new bookings through the end of July and will only service existing reservations after July 31. Damron
Vacations was launched last November and caters to the gay and lesbian travel market.
