On Oct. 15, Singapore-based Amanresorts officially opened Amangiri resort in Lake Powell, Utah, near the Utah-Arizona border. Sanskrit for “peaceful mountain,” Amangiri is cradled by massive 200-million-year-old mesas and rock formations in a region home to a variety of endangered species. The property is also set on a 600-acre expanse of wilderness that has been home to indigenous Navajo and Hopi tribes.
Amangiri features 34 luxurious suites — from Pool Suites with private plunge pools to Amangiri Suites with extensive outdoor terraces — each with uninterrupted panoramic views of the desert and mesas. In addition, the new property has 28 four- and five-bedroom private villas, complete with large pools, wine rooms, fireplaces, optional media rooms and staff quarters.
The cuisine aims to impress clients as menus change regularly, based on available ingredients from local, organic farmers. And, wine lovers will want to browse the resort’s impressive wine room with state-of-the-art climate control, room for 900 bottles and the technology to serve even the finest vintages by the glass.
Another draw for clients is the 25,000-foot spa, which offers hydrotherapy treatments, color therapy enhanced flotation treatments, indoor and outdoor treatment rooms and a fitness area for yoga and Pilates
The new property is a 25-minute drive from Page Municipal Airport and is served by Great Lakes Airways’ direct flights from Denver and Phoenix. The airport has full-service facilities for charter and private aircraft as well.
