To celebrate the country’s upcoming role as host to the Olympics next year, Brazilian Tourism Board president Vinicius Lummertz went on the “Today” show to officially invite tourists from around the world to come to Brazil for the big event.
Aired Aug. 5, exactly one year from the opening of the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, the show featured live and prerecorded segments with Lummertz, who said that Brazil is ready to repeat the success of the 2014 World Cup. “Today” filmed the main sights of the state’s capital, such as Corcovado and Sugarloaf mountains, Maracana Stadium and the beaches of the South Zone of Rio, as well as infrastructure for the games.
“We are prepared to make the best Olympics ever,” said Lummertz during a live segment from Copacabana Beach. “Everyone should come. See you next year!”
