Earlier this month, tourism representatives from China and California gathered at the Autry National Center in Los Angeles for a presentation about the Silk Road provinces of China. Representatives in attendance included Shanhua Xiong, deputy director-general of China National Tourism Administration’s international cooperation department, and Tom LaBonge, chairman of trade, commerce and tourism in Los Angeles. More than 160 travel trade partners and media also attended the event, which included a dinner, special performances and a slideshow presentation.
“I am very pleased by the incredible turnout for our Rediscover the Silk Road event,” said Yanjie Wang, the director for China National Tourist Office in Los Angeles. It is my hope that the momentum sparked by the visit of our provincial tourism leaders will continue and that it will power the growth of tourism arrivals from the United States into China.”
