The cast of “The Love Boat” rang in 2015 at the 126th annual Rose Parade in Pasadena, Calif., while onboard Princess Cruises’ float. This year’s parade followed the christening of the cruise line’s Regal Princess and kicked off the company’s 50th anniversary. Princess’ 60-foot long, 24-foot tall float, named “50 Years of Inspiring Travel,” was adorned with more than 24,000 flowers and natural materials including potatoes, green grapes and seaweed.
“Since the theme of this year’s Rose Parade was ‘Inspiring Stories,’ we could not think of a more perfect opportunity to launch our 50th anniversary celebration,” said Jan Swartz, president of Princess Cruises. “For the last five decades, our guests have sailed with us to amazing places, and they’ve returned with inspiring memories that have lasted a lifetime. We wanted to celebrate this on the very first day of 2015.”
