On May 18, Joy Tanzman, mother of well-known travel agent Susan Tanzman, celebrated her 90th birthday at the Kahala Hotel & Resort on Oahu. Her family and 40 guests — including hoteliers and other tourism representatives from around the islands — gathered for brunch at the resort, which was also celebrating its 50th anniversary. The festivities included a traditional Hawaiian blessing and a performance by renowned Hula dancer Iwalani Tseu.
“Hawaii is probably the only place where the hoteliers are all friends, and when you get them together, they will put on a celebration like no other,” said Susan Tanzman, owner and president of Martin’s Travel and Tours. “The generosity and warmth is incomparable.”
