European Travel Commission Hosts 'A Taste of Europe'

On Oct. 4, more than 75 travel industry and media attendees gathered for the European Travel Commission (ETC) event “A Taste of Europe” at The Redbury hotel in New York. The ETC is a nonprofit organization responsible for the promotion of Europe as a tourist destination in third markets.

Guests were immersed in European culture at the event, which highlighted the gastronomy of more than 20 European countries with regional hors d’oeuvres, as well as tasting stations with signature wine, beer and spirits. Additionally, attendees were invited to “The Portrait of the American Traveler to Europe” discussion, moderated by Arnie Weissmann, editor in chief of Travel Weekly, to hear from panelists including Peter De Wilde, president of the ETC; Steve Cohen, vice president of insights for MMGY Global; Jennifer Andre, senior director of North American sales for Expedia; and Clare Chiu, director of business development for Warwick International Hotels. The event concluded with regional desserts and espresso beverages at a pop-up cafe.
