France Tourism Hosts Champagne Evening in Los Angeles

On Feb. 22, Atout France, the country's tourism arm, hosted "Nuit du Champagne Celebrates Cinema" at the Los Angeles residence of the consul general of France. The Beverly Hills event featured presentations and workshops from Atout France, Champagne Tourism, Reims Tourist Office and more. The evening, which was held in its first edition last summer in Washington, D.C., aims to "reaffirm French Champagne as the only authentic Champagne" and promote French tourism in the U.S.

The night culminated in a Champagne cocktail reception and an induction ceremony by Confrerie du Sabre d'Or (Order of the Golden Saber), where a bottle of bubbly was opened by the technique of sabrage (knocking off the top of a champagne bottle with a saber).
