Last month, nearly 400 employees from Holland America Line (HAL) and Seabourn volunteered with Northwest Harvest, a hunger-relief organization in Washington State, as part of the cruise lines’ annual community giving week. HAL president and Seabourn chairman Stein Kruse was among the group. Event participants helped process and package more than 100,000 pounds of food for food banks and shelters, and. In addition to organizing volunteers, Kruse donated nearly $6,000 in cash and grocery gift cards to Northwest Harvest on behalf of the cruise lines’ staff.
“This volunteer experience becomes more rewarding for our employees every year, because we’re directly impacting our community,” said Kruse. “Northwest Harvest is an incredible organization that supports so many in our area, and we are honored to be able to work with them during the holiday season.”
