Robert Goodwin and Dempsey Lewis Simpson III were announced as the winners of the 2013 GayTravel.com wedding contest and were recently married at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa. The ceremony took place on July 25, 2014, complete with a professional wedding coordinator, travel arrangements, accommodations for seven nights, spa gift certificates and more.
With sponsorship from Hawaiian Airlines, Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa partnered with GayTravel.com to promote a wedding contest for the site’s readers last year. Participants were asked to upload video submissions on GayTravel.com to explain why they should be selected for a Hawaiian dream wedding. The contest ran from February 14 to April 8 with public voting ending on April 15, 2013. The couple began making plans for their celebration when Hawaii passed its Marriage Equality Act in November 2013.
