More than 200 delegates attended Jamaica’s Tourism Outlook Seminar, held Nov. 20-21 at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in Jamaica. The 6th annual seminar brought together Jamaican and regional tourism policymakers and stakeholders to share ideas, examine best practices and discuss strategies for advancing Caribbean tourism.
This year’s theme was “Tourism: Enhancing Social and Economic Impact.” The event is organized by Jamaica’s Ministry of Tourism & Entertainment and the Jamaica Tourist Board in conjunction with United Nations World Tourism Organization and funded by Tourism Enhancement Fund.
“The tourism industry is vital to the entire Caribbean region, as its impact is staggering, and we have seen this globally as well as regionally,” said Paul Pennicook, director of tourism for Jamaica Tourist Board, in a presentation. “It is in everybody’s interest to keep tourism growing.”
