On his visit to Ethiopia July 26 to 28, President Barack Obama visited Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa and met with Tewolde Gebremariam, CEO of Ethiopian Airlines Group. Along with a few U.S. senators and congressional representatives, Obama expressed appreciation for the company’s long-standing relationship with Boeing and toured Ethiopian Airlines’ first Boeing 787 Dreamliner, named “Africa First.” The president congratulated Gebremariam on leading the largest airline in Africa, and Gebremariam informed him that Washington, D.C., is among the company’s most profitable routes. One of Ethiopian Airlines’ newest routes is Los Angeles via Dublin, an announcement that came at the end of June.
