To celebrate the induction of America’s Vacation Center (AVC) into Carnival Cruise Lines’ Pinnacle Club, AVC was presented with a detailed replica of a Carnival Fun Ship to display at its Vista, Calif., office.
The Pinnacle Club program was created by the cruise line to acknowledge high-volume travel agencies that meet a certain sales criteria and exhibit excellence in promoting and selling the Fun Ship cruise experience.
“Travel agencies are an important part of our distribution system, which is why we created the Pinnacle Club to recognize those high-volume agencies like AVC who are truly experts in their field and exhibit the highest levels of professionalism,” said Carnivals’ vice president of sales, Maurice Zarmati.
Fred Miller, vice president of travel industry relations for Marriott International, Inc., has announced his retirement from the company on May 2, following 32 years of Renaissance and Marriott service. Currently, Miller is responsible for establishing and maintaining Marriott’s position as a leader on issues vital to travel industry sales professionals in the global marketplace.
While at Marriott, Miller was a leader in the development of automation between tour wholesalers and hotel suppliers and was responsible for the creation of Marriott’s Hotel Excellence! Travel Agent training program, along with its Preferred Travel Agency Commission Program.
“We are grateful for Fred’s many contributions to our company and the travel industry. He will be missed,” said Julius Robinson, vice president of intermediaries for Marriott International. “His legacy continues with many of the programs he helped to pioneer at Marriott and beyond.”
