The Skal Club of San Francisco, a 20,000-member worldwide association of travel industry executives, presented Nate Schierholtz, right-fielder for the San Francisco Giants, with an honorary club membership. The award recognizes both the important role that Schierholtz, a Bay Area native, played in the Giants’ World Series victory and the positive image that the Giants have given San Francisco.
Nate’s mother, Karen Schierholtz, regional sales manager for Alaska Airlines, accepted the award on his behalf at the Palace Hotel. She accepted the award from Tom Klein, vice president of Fairmont Hotels, as well as Mike Caplin, former club president, and Kirsti Maki, Finnair regional sales manager.
