Tel Aviv, Israel’s 17th annual Pride Parade took place June 12 as part of the city’s Summer Pride Festival, drawing a record number of participants. This year’s festival highlighted the transgender community in order to raise awareness of its needs, challenges, accomplishments and distinct aspects, as well acknowledge its significant contribution to the LGBTQ community and the city of Tel Aviv.
Launched with the slogan “Tel Aviv Loves All Genders,” the gay pride parade began at Gan Meir Park and ended with a beach party. The parade drew 180,000 attendees; 30,000 of those were tourists. Other events that took place during the full 10 days of the Tel Aviv Summer Pride Festival included the Gay Film Festival, Gay Expo at Dizengoff Center and beach parties at Hilton Beach.
