From Nov. 22-24, The Leading Hotels of the World hosted its 2015 Annual Convention in Lausanne, Switzerland. More than 400 luxury member hotels attended the yearly event, which honors and celebrates the success of the hoteliers and hotels within the collection. This year’s theme was “Leadership through Learning,” with perspectives such as the implications of big data, reimagining the food and beverage experience and examining the characteristics of the curious traveler.
An awards ceremony, held at Fairmont Le Montreux Palace, recognized six member hotels and hoteliers for their commitment to guests, passion for delivering “uncommon experiences” and exemplary leadership in hospitality.
The Leading Legends Award was presented to two honorees, Ernst A. Scherz of Gstaad Palace in Palacestrasse, Switzerland, and Jean Jacques Gauer of Lausanne Palace & Spa in Lausanne, Switzerland. Grace Bay Club in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos, was named Member of the Year, and the winner of the New Member of the Year Award was Conservatorium Hotel in Amsterdam. Additionally, The Merrion in Dublin received the Remarkably Uncommon Award; the Leaders Club Collaboration Award was given to The Ritz London; and the Happy Guest Award (recognizing a hotel for providing the greatest commitment to the guest experience) was presented to Baur au Lac in Zurich.
