Last month, flight operations began in the new South concourse of Los Angeles International Airport’s Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT). Mayor Eric Garcetti, along with former L.A. mayors and other city officials, attended the celebration of the completion of Phase 1 of the $1.9 billion project. The building of the terminal created an estimated 4,000 construction-related jobs and the opening of 60 new dining and retail concessions created nearly 2,000 permanent positions. International travelers will also be welcomed by TBIT’s advanced Integrated Environmental Media Systems, which includes thousands of LED tiles and hundreds of LCD screens throughout the terminal.
“Tourism and international travel are playing an ever larger role in our local economy,” said Herb Wesson, Jr., Los Angeles City Council president. “The Tom Bradley International Terminal at LAX is the engine that drives and facilitates much of that economy, and Los Angeles must be able to compete.
