
On a cold grey day in Paris, I climbed to the top of Sacre-Coeur in Montmartre at the end of a month-long stay in Europe. Out of all the messages I found etched into the walls on the way up, "Love is us" was my favorite.
I looked out at the expanse of the city below and the Eiffel Tower in the distance, and my view from the top of the basilica made me feel both small and significant at the same time __ as if this magnificent monument in the City of Light was speaking directly to me.
