Introduction and History

The Island Princess was built in France in 2003, a year after its sister Coral Princess. At 91,627 tons, carrying 2,200 passengers, it has the same capacity as the smaller 77,441-ton Sun Princess, so it is roomier.

Princess Cruises got its start in 1965, merged with Sitmar Cruises, mixing American, British and Italian atmospheres, then became part of the Carnival Corp. in 2003.
