From Feb. 2-4, Virtuoso held its first event of 2021, connecting its travel agency members in the U.S. and Canada with preferred partners from around the globe at its annual U.S. and Canada Forum.

The live virtual event included more than 2,745 one-on-one networking appointments, professional development courses, presentations from key Virtuoso leaders and an address from Matthew D. Upchurch, chairman and CEO of Virtuoso.

Positive signs for the travel industry were also shared during the event; for instance, Virtuoso noted that bookings began to pick up across all partner categories in the last quarter of 2020, and revealed that requests to be connected with an advisor in January 2021 increased as much as 50% over December 2020.

“As an industry, we’ve been through the toughest days we’ve ever faced, and we know to get to the other side, we have to work together; ours is an interdependent business, and we need each other,” Upchurch said in a statement. “If you look beyond the challenge, the opportunity ahead of us is immense to come back stronger.”
