More than 2,000 travel professionals recently attended the American Society of Travel Advisors’ (ASTA) first-ever virtual Global Convention, ASTA Global Live, which took place Aug. 25-28.
The weeklong event featured general sessions; educational trainings; panels; executive Q&As; content geared toward independent advisors and ASTA Small Business Network members; and more. Noteworthy speakers included Elaine Chao, secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation; congresswoman Dina Titus from Nevada; television personality Rick Steves; and several top executives of the leading travel consortia.
Many conversations centered on the revival of the travel industry during the COVID-19 pandemic, and ASTA executives urged advisors to appeal to Congress for additional federal aid.
