What
Powered by TravelAge West (TAW), the third-annual Future Leaders in Travel Retreat will be held virtually from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2 due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. Applications are now open for travel advisors who are in the early stages of their careers. The now-digital event will still deliver unmatched professional networking opportunities, highly relevant educational content and fun, engaging activities. New this year are small-group appointments between suppliers and advisors.

Why It Matters
The team behind The Retreat has fine-tuned this year’s event to not only empower the next generation of leaders, but with careful consideration of the industry’s current challenges. Attendees can expect discussions on important topics such as withstanding periods of no income; executing best practices for communications during a crisis; and more. A Black travel panel will examine the travel industry’s diversity problem, while TAW’s travel industry lawyer and columnist, Jeffrey Ment, will offer practical insight into legal issues. A live mentoring session will feature veteran travel advisors sharing their hard-earned perspectives as participants ask questions. (Agenda items are subject to change.)

Fast Facts
- To complete an application, advisors must provide details on annual bookings and industry experience, in addition to supplying one industry reference with contact details.

- Accepted participants will receive access to educational programming; connections with supplier participants; access to event activities; networking opportunities; participation incentives; and priority application for the 2021 Future Leaders in Travel Retreat in Aspen, Colo.

What They Are Saying
“This year, due to the global health crisis, we are going virtual,” said Mindy Poder, Executive Editor of TravelAge West. “While The Retreat will look a little different, we promise to deliver on the hallmarks of the event. Expect meaningful content that you can apply to your business and unique opportunities to connect with advisors and suppliers. Yes, we even have a few surprises up our sleeve! The business connections made at our past Future Leaders in Travel Retreat events have been unlike any other. We can’t wait to welcome you to our special community.”
