Today, Northstar Travel Group (the parent company of TravelAge West) unveiled Mobeo, a new app for travelers that features free international calling services, secure Wi-Fi hotspot sharing, destination and city guides and more.
The app is powered by Itoorer, a developer of digital global technology solutions, and features more than 40,000 points of interest and information on 6,000 destinations from travel42 (also owned by Northstar).
Travel advisors will have another incentive to recommend the app to clients; Mobeo provides commission to the agent for any data service that a client purchases.
The app’s eSIM (embedded-SIM) technology, found in newer smartphones, will also allow travelers to bypass the purchase of international data plans or SIM cards when traveling to a new area. Instead, “they can enable their phones to have two carrier services on one device” or purchase daily data plans through the app at a fixed price, according to a press release.
"Our focus was to apply our travel technology expertise to make Mobeo the stellar connectivity solution for travel clients, while providing an excellent commission-based, add-on solution for travel professionals," said Nuno Pinho, CEO and executive director of Itoorer. "We will continue to build compelling feature sets for our solutions and will soon include the Intelliguide critical duty of care safety and security travel information inside the app."
More information on app features and supported devices can be found on Mobeo’s website.
