When the Royal Sonesta of New Orleans announced it would be the sponsor of the 2010-2011 New Orleans Saintsations, a group of women who represent the NFL team and work throughout the New Orleans area with various non-profit groups, they celebrated in typical fashion. First, they unveiled the Saintsations 2011 Swimsuit Calendar, then paraded through the French Quarter with the Storyville Stompers Brass Band and Saints’ mascots Gumbo and Sir Saint.
The Royal Sonesta and the New Orleans Saints are a perfect fit. The historic French Quarter hotel fronts Bourbon Street, attracting those who come to New Orleans to have fun, furthering the experience with its live music acts in the hotel lounge and a courtyard pool complete with bar. On the other hand, the 500-room hotel is insulated enough to offer privacy once the party’s over.
The hotel offers convenient parking and quick access to the Superdome. Hot jazz plays nightly in the Irvin Mayfield’s Jazz Playhouse and the Desire Oyster Bar serves up seafood and drinks at all hours in this bistro that opens directly on to Bourbon Street.
For a romantic dinner or a typical New Orleans champagne brunch, Begue’s is a four-diamond restaurant offering French and Creole specialties. In addition, the hotel offers a coffeeshop, daiquiri stop and bar, plus extensive meeting and social space, business center, pool and fitness area.
