AirTran Airways and Virgin America have recently announced plans to connect the West Coast with some of Mexico’s top vacation destinations. Effective June 3, 2012, AirTran will offer daily nonstop service from Orange County, Calif., to Los Cabos. Outbound flights leave Orange County at 2:18 p.m., arriving in Los Cabos at 5:35 p.m. Return flights depart at 6:25 p.m., arriving at 7:45 p.m.
Bookings are currently open and, to celebrate the new service, AirTran has launched a fare sale, featuring one-way flights for $109 between Orange County and Los Cabos.
Likewise, Virgin America will offer five nonstop flights per week from the airline’s home base of San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit. Service operates daily except for Mondays and Thursdays. Outbound flights depart at 9:30 a.m., arriving in Puerto Vallarta at 3:10 p.m. Return flights depart at 4:10 p.m., arriving in San Francisco at 6:15 p.m.
To kick-off the airline’s new service, Virgin America hosted a gate-side fiesta at SFO, complete with margaritas and a mariachi band, for guests of its inaugural flight.
