When my wife’s brother decided to have his wedding in Cancun, Mexico, I knew right away that we were going to be in for a fun-filled week in the sun with friends and family. The wedding took place at The Beloved Hotel in Playa Mujeres, which is about a 30-minute ride from the airport. We stayed in a swim-up suite, which my three sons absolutely loved. Since it was an all-inclusive resort, they could wake up each morning and order breakfast to the patio, where they would play in the sand while they waited for the food to arrive. Once they finished eating, they would proceed directly into the pool.
There was a large kids’ play pool with climbing equipment, and the beach was stocked with snorkeling and kayaking equipment for us to use. I think our favorite place was the open-air Lupita Lounge, where we would congregate in the evenings with the families and enjoy delicious sushi while the kids danced to all their favorite hits played by an in-house DJ.
Overall, it was a fun and relaxing week spent laughing, swimming and enjoying great food, capped off by a wonderful wedding on the beach where we got to watch two of our favorite people vow to spend their lives together.
