Avalon Waterways has reshaped and re-launched its specialist program for agents, designed to showcase the Avalon difference in fleet, explain product offerings by destination and give agents tips on selling river cruises.
“Since 2004, river cruise bookings have soared, growing more than 20 percent year-over-year,” said Patrick Clark, managing director. “And not unlike our desire and dedication to always stay a step ahead of the competition in terms of new ship offerings and design, we are super-charging our specialist program to ensure agents don’t miss the river cruise boat and, specifically, the commissions and profits that come from selling this unique travel style. A bonus of this effort is providing them specific and succinct comparisons from one river cruise line to the next.”
To become an Avalon Waterways Specialist, agents must score at least 90 percent on an online exam. In order to accomplish this, Avalon recommends participating in four specialist modules on product distinction, commission levels and cross-selling and watching videos on subjects from Avalon Choice to dining options and virtual ship tours.
Specialist benefits include Sail 3, Travel Free, in which those who make three 2014 Avalon bookings receive a free seven-night cruise. Specialists also have a ready-made video, a logo on Avalon’s Travel Agent Locator, access to booking incentives and special promotions, a certificate of completion, specialist designation and logo, five CLIA credits and Continuing Education Units with The Travel Institute.
