The association also raised its estimate for the number of
people who cruised in 2004, to 10.6 million. Of that number, CLIA
said, 9.4 million were North American-sourced passengers. CLIA’s
numbers are based on data from its member lines, which primarily
are U.S.-based cruise companies.
Occupancy was 105% in 2004, the highest annual occupancy rates
in CLIA’s history, and is expected to remain at that percentage
through 2005, said Andy Stuart, CLIA’s incoming chairman, at a
meeting in New York.
CLIA also unveiled its “Year of Technology” campaign, designed
to educate agents about e-marketing, Internet research and CRM
