Caribbean Magic

Feb 11, 2009

Disney’s Castaway Cay was Wallerstein’s favorite port. // (c) Disney
Disney’s Castaway Cay was Wallerstein’s favorite port.

Erin, age 16, Canyon Country, Calif.

My favorite vacation was a cruise on the Disney Magic when I was 9 years old. It was over Thanksgiving, and we sailed in the Caribbean — St. Thomas, St. Martin and Disney’s own island, Castaway Cay. I liked all the islands, but my favorite was Castaway Cay. I loved how everything there was designed for kids, and the snorkeling in the clear water was incredible.

I think the main reason this vacation stands out to me, however, is that I met these other kids my own age on the ship, and we hung out all the time. It was really fun. Also, I remember that my dad and brother were picked for "Who Wants to Be a Mouseketeer," and went up on stage. I was on stage too, during one of the shows, and got to sing with some of the other kids.

When I think of the ship, I think of the food! All the restaurants were great, but what stood out the most to me was Scoops, the ice cream parlor. I mean ice cream at any time of day? What could be better for a kid!

I will definitely bring my family on a Disney cruise one day when I have a family of my own, but honestly, I don’t want to wait that long. I want to go again now.
