The newest attraction at Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios Theme Park could make a celebrity out of a family member near you. The American Idol Experience, which offers all the thrills and suspense of the television show, allows theme-park visitors to watch, vote and even perform just like the real-life “stars.”
The attraction, which opened in February, was developed by Walt Disney Imagineering in conjunction with FremantleMedia Enterprises and 19 TV Ltd. and immerses guests in the experience of a live television production. Seven preliminary shows “air” throughout the day, featuring three park guests who sing their hearts out for a chance to make it to the evening’s big finale. One winner from each of the seven performances makes it to the final round to compete for a chance to win the “dream ticket,” a chance to jump to the front of the line in any “American Idol” audition around the country.
