3D Travel, creator of three-dimensional destination portals, recently unveiled a new platform that lets Hawaii hotels present you-are-there websites.
Called Private Label 3D, the technology gives visitors an innovative way to virtually explore a resort, from its amenities and entertainment venues to retail outlets, pools, beaches and meeting facilities.
The first properties to employ the technology are Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort and Spa, Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel, Aston Waikiki Sunset, Aston Waikiki Beach Tower, Aston Kaanapali Shores and Aston Maui Kaanapali Villas. All of these properties have a 3D link right on their home page. At press time, Kaanapali Beach Hotel was also building a 3D site.
"Whether you're a travel agent, wholesaler, visitors bureau, hotel marketer, tour operator, visitor attraction or entrepreneur looking to start a 3D web-based business, you can now deploy your own full-featured content-rich 3D website in just a matter of days," said 3D Travel chief executive officer Craig Carapelho.
Hotels are customizing the platform as a sales and marketing tool for travel agents. For instance, Hilton Hawaiian Village and 3D Travel recently created a virtual reality scavenger hunt to get users to the new site to explore the grounds of the Waikiki resort and find out about its many amenities.
"The contest was a fun and engaging way to get people excited about planning their trip to Hawaii and, specifically, to get them to learn more about all of the benefits of staying at the Hilton," said Carapelho.
