The Waikiki nightlife scene is more tuneful than ever thanks to a new musical production called “Return to Paradise,” starring vocalist Lani Misalucha.
The latest brainchild of tour and transportation company and entertainment provider Roberts Hawaii, “Return to Paradise” is regaling audiences at the Holiday Inn Waikiki Beachcomber Resort’s Magic of Polynesia Showroom.
“The new show is a phenomenal compilation of some of the most wonderful, timeless music that people in Hawaii and elsewhere will immediately recognize,” said Roberts Hawaii president Percy Higashi. “It’s not Hawaiian music per se, but rather, the music that Hawaii loves. So whether you’re a first time visitor or you’ve been coming for years, the new show lets you connect to Hawaii and experience what we love here in a really fun, feel-good way.”
Among the show’s numbers are a romantic movie-theme medley ranging from “Moon River” to the theme from “Titanic,” “My Heart Will Go On”; high-energy swing numbers including Duke Ellington’s “Springtime in Honolulu”; selections that showcase Misalucha’s pop and operatic roots; impressions of Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary” and Diana Ross’ “Ain’t No Mountain”; a moving Hawaiian solo, “Waikiki”; and Broadway favorites such as “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina” from “Evita” and “All I Ask of You” from “Phantom of the Opera.”
Return to Paradise runs Tuesdays through Saturdays at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $55 per adult for general seating, $65 for a limited number of preferred seats and $30 per child (ages 4-11).
