The New Mexico Tourism Web site recently unveiled a “Kids New Mexico” section on its Web site (www.newmexico.org) designed especially for the littlest travelers in mind. The section gives children the opportunity to play interactive games such as the New Mexico Match Game and Discover Your Animal Guide; discover animal tracks; learn New Mexico state symbols; find out about New Mexico’s famed cowboys and Native Americans; sing along to a New Mexican song; trade New Mexico trading cards with friends; and submit photos of Flat Stanley to be shared on the site.
In related news, the Web site also recently added a new Culinary Trails section that details the Green Chile Cheeseburger Trail celebrating the state’s iconic hamburger. The trail lists 48 restaurants that were selected from nearly 200 nominees statewide and the Web site section includes an interactive map that allows users to search for restaurants by area or restaurant name.
“We are continually changing and enhancing our Web site to further attract visitors who make destination and other travel choices based on cuisine or what New Mexico offers the younger set,” said Michael Cerletti, secretary of the New Mexico Tourism Department. “Promoting tourism to New Mexico may require a lot of hard work and creative thinking, but it doesn’t mean we cannot have a little fun in the process.”
