MLT Vacations, a vacation provider company based in the U.S., is reporting an increase in cultural tour sales in Mexico. In homage to this surge that has been growing since 2011, the company has released its “10 best-selling cultural tours in Mexico” list (based on 2013 sales data). Aeromexico Vacations and Delta Vacations operate all included tours.
Cancun dominates the list with its Chichen Itza Plus tour, Coba Maya Encounter tour, Isla Contoy tour, Cozumel highlights tour and Tulum/Akumal tour. However, other destinations are breaking through, including destinations along Mexico’s west coast and its colonial cities. Mexico City Historical tour in Mexico City; Puerto Vallarta City tour in Puerto Vallarta; and Stone Island tour in Mazatlan are those that have also made the top 10 list.
“Travelers are not leaving the beach behind,” said John Caldwell, president of MLT Vacations. “But they are looking to add more diverse, enriching and immersive cultural experiences to their vacations, which is great news for travel professionals wanting to create more value for their clients.”
MLT Vacations is offering a promotion for both travel professionals and their clients. Clients who book a trip to Mexico can receive up to 10,000 bonus miles, while full commission, a 2 percent bonus and 300 reward points for personal travel can be claimed by their travel agents.
