Meetings Go Green at Barcelo Maya Grand Resort

Nov 05, 2017

With the Riviera Maya’s white-sand beaches, turquoise blue waters and striking greenery, meetings held at the all-inclusive Barcelo Maya Grand Resort will surely inspire high attendance rates. Yet there’s an even more significant reason to book a meeting at the resort than just the paradisiacal scenery.

The property recently held a series of “Green Meetings” to demonstrate new techniques that will ensure that its conferences and events are highly sustainable and environmentally friendly. Some of the waste-reducing efforts include avoiding printed and disposable materials, using energy-saving light bulbs and installing automatic light controls in public areas.

“We are deeply committed to our reputation as an eco-friendly vacation destination and our responsibility to preserving the stunning scenery of Riviera Maya,” said Juan Perez Sosa, vice president of sales and marketing in the U.S. for Barcelo Hotel Group.

These ecological preservation techniques are utilized not only during meetings and events, but throughout the entire resort complex as well. From treating water in filtration plants and sorting trash to curating a 3,200-square-foot vegetable garden, Barcelo Maya Grand Resort is committed to providing a luxury experience with both the client and the environment in mind.
