Friendly Planet Travel has introduced a nine-day tour of Thailand with rates starting at $899 per person, including international airfare. Its Taste of Thailand tour highlights several of the country’s must-see sites, including Bangkok, Ayuthaya and Kanchanaburi, and offers the option of extending to Phuket and Angkor Wat, Cambodia.
“We’re very excited about this new tour to Thailand, which we believe gives the term affordable a whole new meaning. Taste of Thailand offers the chance to visit at a price we haven’t seen in years, without sacrificing quality and comfort, while allowing guests to experience some of Thailand’s best places at a value that’s simply unprecedented,” said Peggy Goldman, president of Friendly Planet Travel.
The tour, which are conducted by English-speaking and licensed guides, begins in Bangkok where visitors can explore some of Thailand’s most renowned temple sites, including Wat Traimit, which houses the 700-year-old, five-ton Golden Buddha — the largest in the world.
Clients can then expect a stop in ancient Ayuthaya, once the country’s capital and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for its archaeological ruins from the King U Thong kingdom in 1350.
A visit to Kanchanaburi follows, where travelers can enjoy the Mae Klong river and the Bridge on the River Kwai. More adventurous travelers will be happy to know there is the opportunity to ride an elephant through the lush jungle and take a bamboo raft down the flowing River Kwai.
Those who find themselves wanting to prolong their trip can take advantage of two extension options. A three-night visit to Phuket island includes a stay at the Novotel Resort, located on eight acres of stunning tropical gardens overlooking Kalim Bay, while a tour of Angkor Wat, Cambodia, explores the location’s famed archaeological sites. There is also the chance to travel to both locations.
Clients looking for a more extensive stay in Thailand should consider Friendly Planet Travel’s Treasure of Thailand tour, priced at $1,499 per person. The 12-day trip takes travelers from the north to the south, with stops in Chiang Mai, the Golden Triangle, Chiang Rai and Bangkok, with optional extensions to Phuket island or Angkor Wat, Cambodia.
