North America: Velo Classic Tours is offering several different Tours of California in February to give clients a chance to explore San Francisco, Palo Alto, Los Gatos and Carmel by bicycle.

Sake to Me
From Jan. 20 to March 10, United Vacations is offering five different seven-day Sake Brewery Tours throughout Tokyo. The tours include an airport limousine transfer to and from the airport, a full-day excursion to the wine brewery at Yamanashi and a visit to the Echigo Yukikura-kan Sake Brewery. The trip also teaches clients how to make senbei (a Japanese rice cake) and includes a visit to various temples and shrines. Package rates start at $1,199 per person for a land-only excursion, based on double occupancy. Air-inclusive rates from SFO or LAX range from $1,809 to $2,079 per person, based on double occupancy.
MLT Expands Caribbean Service
MLT Vacations is expanding its service to Caribbean destinations, such as Antigua, Turks and Caicos and St. Lucia through its NWA WorldVacations and Continental Airlines Vacations brands. NWA WorldVacations will offer packages to all three destinations while Continental Airlines will offer packages to Antigua and Turks and Caicos.
"We are thrilled to be expanding our product offerings with these three island paradises," said Ken Pomerantz, president and chief marketing officer for MLT Vacations. "We are confident that our customers will love the air service and value we offer combined with the one-of-a-kind experience offered by Sandals and Beaches Resorts."
Packages will include roundtrip airfare, accommodations at a Sandals or Beaches resort and ground transportation. Additional lodging selections are scheduled to be announced this spring.
CIE Adds New Tour of Spain
Thanks to its success in other European regions such as Ireland, Britain and Eastern Europe, CIE Tours International is adding a new Spain tour, the Spanish Crown, in 2009. The new tour is currently featured on the tour operator’s Web site as well as in its new 40-page brochure, Italy, Spain & Eastern Europe 2009.
The 10-day, eight-night Spanish Crown Tour includes a total of 10 meals, all admission charges per itinerary and first-class hotel accommodations with land-only rates that begin at $1,299 per person. The trip will depart twice a month from April 11 to Dec. 24.
"This tour starts in Madrid and ends in Malaga, with Seville in the center, providing a blend of historic cities with Costa del Sol beaches and relaxing two- or three-night hotel stays," CIE Tours International managing director Brian W. Stack explained.
Highlights of the tour include visits to the sherry wine-producing region of Jerez, the gorge of El Tajo and the La Mancha region, better known as the legendary home of fictional character Don Quixote.
Gogo Teams up With On The Go
Gogo Worldwide Vacations has teamed up with specialist, London-based tour operator On The Go Tours to offer a broader range of products to travel agents and their clients through Gogo’s Worldwide Collection of tours and packages.
"This agreement significantly extends GOGO’s global product reach and will deliver an exciting new product range to our travel agency partners," said Gogo President Dean Smith.
The new products from On The Go Tours will be marketed as Gogo’s Discovery offerings and will only be available to U.S. travel agents through the company’s Worldwide Collection Specialty Desk at 866-565-7348. On The Go Tours specializes in travel throughout Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Russia, Morocco and Africa.
"[Its] range also includes fully-guided soft-adventure tours from six to 21 days and tailor-made FIT packages that allow travel agents to create perfect customized vacations for clients," said Smith. "With the many options available, agents can easily make their clients’ vacation dreams a very enjoyable reality."
Smith also noted that On The Go Tours utilizes expert local guides and does not require single supplements from single travellers willing to share with another single traveller of the same sex on the majority of its group tours. Its accommodations range from three-star to five-star and the company also offers roundtrip airport arrival and departure transfers on most of its itineraries.
On The Go Tours, which has been in business since 1998, also has offices in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Canada.
