Universal Orlando Resort is preparing guests for battle — in summer 2013, the theme park will open its next blockbuster attraction, the widely popular Transformers: The Ride-3D. Orlando will be the third Universal Park to feature the fully immersive adventure based on the popular film series and iconic Transformers brand.
The ride, which was created under license from Hasbro Inc., brings to life the intergalactic battle between the line’s heroes, the Autobots, and their nemeses, the Decepticons, and has already seen great success at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Singapore. The premise of the action-packed ride experience is that guests go face-to-face with Megatron, the series’ villain, as they dodge 3-D explosions and attacks while the Autobots battle to save mankind.
“Transformers: The Ride-3D is the perfect addition to Universal Orlando’s thrilling theme park experiences,” said Mark Woodbury, president of Universal Creative. “The ride has already proven to be a hit at our Hollywood and Singapore parks, and we’re excited that Orlando guests will soon be able to join the Autobots in the fight to save the world.”
Universal worked closely with Michael Bay, the award-winning director of the “Transformers” film series to produce an experience that brings the action of the films to life. The attraction combines the Transformers’ characters and an exciting storyline with HD CGI media, state-of-the-art 3-D technology and high-tech special effects to make riders feel like they are in the middle of an epic battle between good and evil.

“We broke the mold and have taken this ride to a new technological level in terms of blending seamless 3-D,” said Bay.
Universal’s Transformers ride channels the popularity of the franchise, which has entertained worldwide with its films, television shows and merchandise. To date, three films have been released — 2007’s “Transformers,” the 2009 sequel “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” and “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” in 2011 — which have grossed more than $2 billion combined at the box office. All films were directed by Bay, executive produced by Steven Spielberg and released by Paramount Pictures.
Slated to open in summer 2013 at Universal Orlando, Transformers: The Ride-3D will have one of the shortest build times in Universal’s history, making it one of the company’s most ambitious projects to date. A teaser trailer for the Universal Orlando edition of the experience, as well as a commercial for the ride’s Universal Studios Hollywood counterpart can be viewed online.
To experience the Transformers ride, agents can book a trip for their clients to Universal Orlando Resort, which features two theme parks, three themed on-site hotels and a nighttime entertainment complex. www.prepareforbattle.com, www.universaltravelagents.com
