The results from Travel Leaders Group’s fall survey reveal trends for holiday travel. Among participating travel agents, more than 76 percent indicated that current bookings for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s travel are the same or higher than they were at this time last year. The survey also revealed that the majority of bookings made were for families traveling together to international destinations.
“Apparently, home is not necessarily where the heart is for the end of year holidays. It might surprise some, but traveling with family to an international destination is the reason stated most often by our travel agents as to why their clients are traveling over the holidays,” said Barry Liben, CEO of the Travel Leaders Group. “When we look at the top 10 international destinations being booked for the remainder of the year, it’s split 50-50 between sunny, warm destinations and Europe.”
Travel agents from across the U.S. were asked to name five top destinations they are booking for the remainder of the year. Las Vegas, Orlando, New York, Maui and Honolulu topped the list. www.travelleadersgroup.com
