Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection will introduce the River Saigon in 2012, as the company expands its program of Asian river cruises and tours. With more than 100 departures on eight itineraries, ranging from 10 to 24 days in China, Vietnam and Cambodia, there are extensive options for exploring the diversity of the region. Clients can take in sites such as the Great Wall of China, Cambodia’s Angkor Wat, Tibet, Vietnam and the Yangtze and Mekong rivers with Uniworld.
The new Vietnam and Cambodia sailings start in January on River Saigon, sailing the Mekong River with a maximum capacity of 60 guests. The intimacy of the ship allows guests to experience the region up close and in style with features including hotel-style beds, French doors leading to a promenade, a pillow menu and individual climate control.
Travelers can select from Uniworld’s two new itineraries, including the 15-day Timeless Wonders of Vietnam, Cambodia & the Mekong river cruise and tour, which takes guests from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi, Vietnam, priced from $4,399. The company stresses its small group explorations, which feature one local guide for every 20 guests, and travel to floating villages and sights via a sampan, offering an authentic experience.Another new choice is the 24-day Grand Asia & the Mekong river cruise and tour from Beijing to Hanoi, priced from $7,999. The itinerary features three days in Beijing, a flight to Xian to see the Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses, two nights in Hangzhou, China, two days in Shanghai with guided tours and entertainment and two days of exploration in Ho Chi Minh City. Guests then board the River Saigon and cruise along the Mekong River where clients visit the tragic Killing Fields, tour Phnom Penh and more. Leaving the ship at Siem Reap for a two-day exploration of Angkor Wat, guests finish the experience with a two-night stay in Hanoi.
Whichever Uniworld river cruise and tour travelers choose in Asia, most meals are included, with special theme dinners and home-hosted lunches.
