Intrepid Travel's Jenny Gray on Empowering Women and Breaking the Taboo of Infertility and Miscarriage

Melbourne, Australia-based Jenny Gray is a senior product manager at Intrepid Travel, which offers more than 1,000 adventure travel itineraries all over the world, including on all seven continents and in 120-plus countries.

Gray caught the travel bug long before she began working at Intrepid about 10 years ago. Born in Sydney, Australia, she spent much of her childhood living and attending an international school in Fiji — a beloved place that taught her to celebrate diversity. After working at a ski vacation wholesaler in Australia, she next moved to London for a job at Exodus Travels. Then, Gray says, she was “in the right place at the right time,” as Exodus Travels and Intrepid Travel merged. Back to Australia she went, taking on Intrepid’s role of regional product manager of the Middle East and Africa.

In this episode of Humans of Travel, Gray shares why she championed the tour operator’s female-led range of Women’s Expedition Trips, which was launched in 2018 on International Women’s Day. The product is near and dear to her heart. She also opens up about an ongoing challenge in her personal life: battling infertility, which was followed by a devastating miscarriage late last year. She hopes that by sharing her story, other women facing the same challenges will feel less alone.
