TRAVELAGE WEST HONORED WITH MAGGIE AWARD
LOS ANGELES — TravelAge West magazine took home a Maggie Award for Best Trade Tabloid at the 2008 Maggie Awards banquet, held in Los Angeles, May 2. The prestigious award, sponsored by the Western Publications Association (WPA), is the fifth in four years for the magazine.
“The editorial staff is extremely excited by this honor,” said Ken Shapiro, TravelAge West Editor-in-Chief. “Not only did we win in a new category for us, but we feel it was one of the most prestigious awards in the B-to-B field. The fact that we were chosen by fellow editors makes this even more gratifying.”
For more than 50 years, the WPA has been addressing the needs of publications west of the Mississippi. The organization’s annual Maggie Awards are designed to honor “the best in magazine and electronic publishing in over 80 editorial and design categories.” Maggie winners include top-name consumer and trade magazines such as Sunset, Muscle & Fitness, The Advocate and SF Weekly.
In addition to this year’s award, TravelAge West has also won Maggies for Most Improved Trade Publication (2005); Best Non-Paid Trade Publication — Under 50,000 Circulation (2005, 2006); and Best Supplement (2007).
