This summer, visitors can take part in new and unique experiences in Alaska, including mine tours and heli-fishing.
Visitors can explore South-central Alaska’s gold rush history on Gold Mine Safari Tours’ new three-hour excursion, which includes two different mine tours. Guests depart out of Girdwood, taking six-wheeled trucks along the historic Iditarod Trail route to Crow Creek Mine, once one of the largest gold mines in the region. Passengers then disembark for a walking tour before visiting a nearby active gold mine, where they can try their luck at panning for gold, view area wildlife and learn the history of the region.
Another new experience takes place at the newly built Tsaina Lodge, which is offering heli-fishing and Alaska adventure packages for July and August. Tsaina offers exclusive access to remote fishing waters from an on-property helicopter pad, and package options will include fly-fishing for trout and salmon, helicopter wildlife viewing tours and deep-sea halibut and shark charters in Prince William Sound. Other activities available from the lodge include ice climbing, sea kayaking, hiking and whitewater or scenic rafting. Packages begin at $1,650 for three nights.
