Oakland’s official marketing organization, Visit Oakland, announced 50-year resident MC Hammer as its next advertising campaign representative. Hammer is deeply familiar with Oakland’s history, cultural diversity and growth and will contribute to the campaign’s hopes to further Oakland’s popularity as a travel destination.
“My admiration, love and understanding of what the culture of Oakland is, is from experience,” said Hammer. “For everything that you could ever say negatively about Oakland, I can give ten positives.”
As an insider of the Visit Oakland campaign, Hammer has personally recommended unique activities and sights in Oakland, such as seeing a show at a historic Art Deco theater or visiting the waterfront at Jack London Square. Hammer’s contributions have already been implemented in print, online, video, radio and direct marketing platforms.
