The new hotel brand Edition has officially launched its first property. Open since Oct. 15 on Oahu, The Waikiki Edition promises to combine what it calls "a personal, intimate, individualized and unique lodging experience with the global reach and scale of Marriott International."
Billed as a "modern lifestyle hotel," The Waikiki Edition is located in the former Ilikai Yacht Harbor Tower on the edge of Waikiki.
Exteriors feature gardens filled with palms, ginger, jasmine, bougainvillea and banana trees. The lobby boasts views of yachts in the harbor, a creative wall-to-wall surfboard installation, a reception desk made from sculpted wood and a long lobby bar as the epicenter.
The lobby's stairway leads up to the heart of the hotel. Here, two unique pools, a private inland beach, bars, tropical gardens, an outdoor movie theater and a restaurant by chef Masaharu Morimoto offer a variety of different guest experiences.
As part of its well-being initiatives, The Waikiki Edition is offering Surf and Bikini Boot Camps featuring yoga, biking, hiking and customized fitness programs. The Spa at Waikiki has four treatment rooms, manicure/pedicure stations with balconies and a full range of services.
For events, the hotel lays claim to the largest luxury ballroom on Oahu at 9,200 square feet, seating up to 920 guests. For clients who love nightlife, the hotel presents Crazybox nightclub with a 30-foot-long bar and a custom-designed light sculpture with over 40,000 reclaimed, antique light bulbs.
The Waikiki Edition's 353 guest rooms and suites are decorated in natural tones and woods with distinctive design touches. Accommodations have oversized windows overlooking the city, pools, yacht harbor and Pacific Ocean. Many have furnished terraces with sliding louvered doors offering shuttered shade, filtered sunshine or dramatic vistas.
