Living up to its reputation as the quirkiest neighborhood in Seattle, Fremont is once again gearing up for its offbeat take on traditional Oktoberfest festivities.
During the weekend of Sept. 24-26, 2010, Fremont is hosting its popular family-friendly Oktoberfest celebration. Among the festivities are the Brew-ha-ha 5-K race, Street Scramble scavenger hunt, live music and - the perennial favorite event - the Texas Chainsaw Pumpkin Carving Contest, which features costumed chainsaw-wielding contestants creating pumpkin sculptures while the audience cheers them on.
Since it wouldn't be Oktoberfest without beer, more than 80 beers will be available to sample in the microbrew tasting garden.
