Carnival Cruise Lines is pushing the envelope with its onboard entertainment — the cruise company recently partnered with Dr. Seuss to draw in families, and brand officials have also announced the Carnival Live Concert Series schedule, with high-profile artists performing on eight ships this year.
Carnival researched guests’ favorite musical genres and preferred stars, and the results may well mean that travelers will arrange their sailing dates to hear their favorite performers. The 49 performance dates for 2014 include concerts by Grammy award winner Jennifer Hudson, who performed for press in New York at the kickoff event, Olivia Newton-John, Trace Adkins, Martina McBride, Kansas, Gavin DeGraw, Foreigner, Chicago, Kansas, REO Speedwagon, Styx, LeAnn Rimes and more.
“The Carnival Live 2014 Concert Series is a great tool for our travel agent partners, providing an additional feature at a great value that can be promoted when selling Carnival cruises,” said Mark Tamis, senior vice president of guest operations. He added that agents can put together groups from the artists’ fan bases and clubs.
Beginning in April 2014, Carnival Live concerts will take place onboard eight ships that call in Cozumel, Mexico; Nassau, the Bahamas; and Catalina Island, California. Artists will join the ship while in port, perform in the main show lounge that evening and debark following their show.
Concert tickets will cost $20-40 each, a nominal fee for the well-known artists on the schedule. A limited number of VIP tickets will also available for each show for $100-$150 each, which will include an artist meet-and-greet, a photo opportunity and seating in the first three rows. All tickets can be purchased through Carnival’s online shore excursion system prior to sailing, or onboard participating ships at the shore excursion desk, based on availability.
