Holland America Line has been a longtime provider of cruises from the West Coast, especially San Diego, Calif. Now, the brand has recommitted to voyages to and from the port, along with Seattle, Wash., and Vancouver, Canada, through 2025, with five ships headed to four regions. Destinations include Mexico, Hawaii, the Panama Canal and the Pacific Coast onboard Eurodam, Koningsdam, Nieuw Amsterdam, Westerdam and Zaandam.
“Holland America Line continues to cultivate our North America homeport cruises to offer a diverse range of destinations without the need for long-haul air,” said Beth Bodensteiner, chief commercial officer of Holland America Line. “Our West Coast departures are a rich collection of close-to-home itineraries, and with the ability to book back-to-back cruises in different regions, our guests can check off more of their must-do travel experiences in one vacation.”

The upcoming season, which is now open to bookings, is scheduled from September 2024 through May 2025, and includes four- to 21-day voyages. Highlights extend to additional Panama Canal Collectors’ Voyages, beginning with a Hawaii cruise and ending in the Eastern Caribbean. Combinable Collectors’ Voyages range from 14 to 31 days, offering the chance to link multiple back-to-back itineraries without repeated ports of call.
Mexico Cruises
Koningsdam and Zaandam will depart roundtrip from San Diego on weeklong “Mexican Riviera” sailings to Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan and Cabo San Lucas, and “Baja Peninsula and Sea of Cortez” cruises to La Paz, Loreto and Cabo San Lucas. Alternatively, a 10-day “Mexican Riviera and Sea of Cortez” itinerary will hit all five ports, while an 11-day option adds Manzanillo, Mexico.
Hawaii Sailings
Koningsdam and Zaandam will also head to Hawaii roundtrip from San Diego and Vancouver. A 16-day “Circle Hawaii” circuit from San Diego will go to Honolulu, Lahaina, Hilo and Kona, plus Ensenada, Mexico, whereas an 18-day “Circle Hawaii” itinerary will sail from San Diego to Lahaina, Hilo, Honolulu (overnight), Nawiliwili, Kona and Ensenada.
From Vancouver, a 17-day cruise will visit Nawiliwili, Lahaina, Hilo, Honolulu (overnight) and Kona. A similar 17-day option from San Diego features a one-day call at Honolulu and adds Ensenada to the lineup.
Pacific Northwest and Coast Itineraries
Eurodam, Koningsdam, Nieuw Amsterdam, Westerdam and Zaandam will cover the Pacific Northwest and Coast during the season, either roundtrip from San Diego or Vancouver. The seven-day “Classic California Coast” route from San Diego will navigate to Avalon or Santa Barbara, plus San Francisco (overnight) and Ensenada. And a single four-day jaunt from Vancouver will head to Seattle, Wash., and Victoria, Canada.
Between Vancouver and San Diego there will be four- or five-day “Pacific Coastal” itineraries heading to combinations of Avalon, Santa Barbara and San Francisco, Calif. In the reverse direction, the “Wine Country and Pacific Northwest” route will feature Avalon and San Francisco on a six-day version; the line will add San Francisco (overnight) Astoria, Ore.; and Victoria, Canada, on a seven-day sailing.
Rounding out the options will be extra one-day “Pacific Northwest” getaways between Vancouver and Seattle.
Panama Canal Cruises
Lastly, Eurodam, Nieuw Amsterdam and Zaandam will transit the Panama Canal between Vancouver, Seattle or San Diego and Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Itineraries stretch from 14 to 21 days, showcasing a combination of countries and U.S. states: Aruba, California, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama and Turks and Caicos. Several also include a visit to Holland America Line’s Half Moon Cay private island in the Bahamas.
