Executing the ambitious plan to open 11 resorts in Mexico and the
Dominican Republic by the end of the year, AMResorts is scheduled
to open two more Dreams Resorts and Spa properties in Mexico this
month.
Dreams Puerto Vallarta and Dreams Cancun are scheduled to open
in July. Both are former Camino Real properties that were taken
over by AMResorts. In May, the Pennsylvania-based company also
opened the Dreams Los Cabos Suites Golf Resort & Spa at the
southernmost tip of the Baja California peninsula, between Cabo San
Lucas and San Jose del Cabo.
Dreams is an upscale brand that targets families. Other brands
within AMResorts include the Secrets Resorts & Spas, which
caters to adults only, and Sunscape Resorts and Spas, a more
affordable option for families, couples and singles.
The Secrets Excellence Riviera Cancun is scheduled to open later
this year. And AMResorts is also planning to open a new Sunscape
property in the Riviera Maya in December.
Other Mexico properties include Secrets Capri Riviera Cancun and
Sunscape Tulum Riviera Maya. In the Dominican Republic, AMResorts
operates Secrets Excellence Punta Cana, Sunscape Punta Cana Grand
and Sunscape Casa del Mar. Later this year, the Dominican Republic
will also see the opening of Sunscape The Beach Punta Cana.
All of the AMResorts brands are all-inclusive. Both the Cancun
and Puerto Vallarta properties are under renovation and, by
December, will include a full-service spa and health club, as well
as several new restaurants, an “Explorer’s Kids Club” and Teen
Club, adults-only swimming pools and Jacuzzis, wedding gazebos and
night clubs.
The 337 guestrooms and bathrooms at the beachfront Dreams Puerto
Vallarta will also be renovated, with new furniture, soft goods and
hardware. The resort is located about five minutes from Puerto
Vallarta’s colonial center. Dreams Cancun, with 381 rooms, is on
Punta Cancun, the island’s northernmost point. All guestrooms have
balconies and ocean views. Renovations there will bring the
addition of VIP check-in, as well as the spa and other features.
The resort also has a freshwater pool next to a saltwater swimming
lagoon adjacent to the white-sand beach.
The 308-room Dreams Los Cabos is an all-suite, hacienda-style
property with panoramic views of the Sea of Cortez. The world-class
spa, which is open, offers a full range of services from facials to
massage as well as a state-of-the-art fitness center. And two golf
courses are adjacent to the resort: the Cabo Real, with a Robert
Trent Jones design, and the El Dorado, designed by Jack
Nicklaus.
Amenities include three pools, including an infinity pool that
spills over a waterfall facing the ocean and a children’s pool.
There are six restaurants, ocean-front bars and nightly live
entertainment, and an Explorer’s Club offers supervised activities
for children. Meeting space is available for up to 220 guests.
Special introductory discounts of up to 50 percent off rack
rates are available at all three properties through Dec. 23, and
travel agents earn one free night for every seven-night booking.
Clients will also receive a free night, valid for the same dates,
if they return for a second stay before Dec. 23.
At Dreams Los Cabos, discounted rates start at $366 per person
for a three-night stay in a junior suite, which includes
accommodations, gourmet meals, premium brand drinks, 24-hour room
service and use of all resort amenities, water sports, nightly
entertainment, taxes and tips. The three-night rate per person for
Dreams Puerto Vallarta is $258, and $378 for Dreams Cancun.
