When Hurricane Odile swept through Los Cabos in 2014, many resorts temporarily shuttered to deal with the resulting damage to their properties. One such accommodation was Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort, which recently reopened after a multimillion-dollar rethink, redo and repair. Guests who stayed at the hotel before Hurricane Odile will notice many changes when they arrive for a return visit.

“There are elements of our recovery process incorporated into the design,” said Tim Booth, general manager of Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort. “For example, a seating area consists of wooden cabinet doors that have been made into a mosaic on the wall, which is a reminder of our past, but envisioned in a new way, much like the property as a whole.”

The hotel’s 375 guestrooms feature all new furnishings. Additionally, the property now has 65 entirely new La Vista Club Suites. Room decor embraces a contemporary Mexican style, utilizing hand-stenciled wall art and colorful curtains to frame the ocean views.

“Each of the 375 oceanview guestrooms features a private balcony with views of the Sea of Cortez,” Booth said. “The best ocean views are experienced on higher floors, especially in our Presidential Suite and from any of our La Vista Club Suites.”

La Vista Club, located on the resort’s top floors, follows a hotel-within-a-hotel concept. Club guests have access to Club Vista Lounge, where they can enjoy morning refreshments; afternoon snacks; a social hour with exclusive tastings and appetizers before dinner; and evening cordials accompanied by bite-size desserts. La Vista Club guests also receive high-speed Wi-Fi access, laundry service for gym clothes, garment pressing, shoeshine service and farm-style continental breakfasts at on-site restaurant El Meson — all complimentary. Additionally, clients can avail themselves of the services of a VIP Experience Coordinator, who can help customize their stay.

The hotel has also added three new food and beverage venues: swim-up bar Mio, beach bar La Onda and lobby bar Azul. The latter is a reconceptualization of the former lobby bar and now offers expansive ocean views that greet guests on arrival. There have also been changes to the resort’s dining venues.

“We did a complete revamp of all seven of our menus and updated the decor in each of the resort’s restaurants,” Booth said. “Under the leadership of executive chef Mauricio Lopez, we offer locally sourced food with a sea-to-table concept in mind. We blend the traditional Mexican concepts with new takes on favorite dishes.”

The resort has also added Eforea Spa, the brand’s first location in Mexico. The 7,000-square-foot facility has 15 treatment rooms, three pedicure stations and four manicure tables. Guests can also kick back in the spa’s Zen garden or get active in the fitness center or Movement Studio, which can be used for everything from aerial yoga and spinning to TRX suspension training and Zumba.

In addition, the resort’s Cabo Kids Camp has been enhanced with new programs for children ages 4 to 12. New hat shop El Sombrero is open, offering guests more than 15 handcrafted chapeaus, and the hotel’s grounds now have a greater selection of private cabanas and hammocks.

Hilton Los Cabos will be opening its doors for a travel agent fam trip, according to Booth. Information is still being finalized, but the fam is slated for 2016.
